Project Overview

The role supports Google’s Import Legal and Trade Compliance team for North America and APAC during a leave coverage period. The position focuses on import compliance management, regulatory analysis, and trade data operations across multiple Google business units, including Waymo (automotive imports) and Verily (biotech/mosquito programs).

The candidate will:

Respond to government requests and evaluate customs and import documentation.
Handle import valuation modeling and assess business impact of regulatory or tariff changes.
Manage and manipulate large trade datasets to support compliance reporting and forecasting.
Draft regulatory memos and summaries related to import laws, trade restrictions, and data governance.
Merge datasets and prepare executive reports on import volumes, customs values, and trade trends.
Utilize systems such as Agile and Google’s Global Trade Management (GTM) platform for data and documentation management.

The role involves oversight of imports totaling billions of dollars in consumer hardware and computing devices, requiring strong data handling, reporting, and analytical capabilities.

Ideal Industry Background

Prior experience in international trade, import/export operations, or customs compliance.
Direct interaction with U.S. Customs & Border Protection (CBP), Canadian Customs, or Mexican Customs authorities.
Familiarity with import valuation, classification, and trade forecasting.
Strong skills in Excel data modeling, data analytics, and regulatory documentation.
