The Trade Compliance Manager plays a pivotal role in the success of the business. Position Overview:
In this role, you will lead the Regional Trade Compliance team. Your main responsibility will be to implement and ensure adherence to global trade policies and procedures set by the Trade Compliance Center of Excellence (COE). By applying these guidelines, you will help maintain compliance with global customs regulations while driving key trade compliance initiatives to ensure smooth operations. Your contributions will have a direct impact on streamlining customs processes globally, driving cost-saving initiatives, and ensuring the company's continued compliance across regions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with leadership at both business and regional levels to align trade compliance policies with daily operations, integrating them seamlessly with broader business strategies.
- Create and implement a trade compliance strategy that considers industry trends, costs, operational capabilities, and market conditions, while ensuring alignment with supply chain, commercial, and functional strategies.
- Stay updated on regulatory changes, customs rulings, and judicial decisions that impact trade compliance and take action to protect the company’s interests.
- Oversee Country of Origin determinations and valuation processes within the business.
- Ensure that risk management practices are in place to maintain cost-effective compliance with import/export regulations.
- Lead the correction of any compliance issues identified through internal audits.
- Identify the most beneficial duty rates or special duty savings programs to minimize overall landed costs.
- Work to streamline and improve customs clearance processes, reducing lead times in partnership with facilities.
- Address inquiries from various facilities regarding the regulatory impact and compliance requirements.
- Serve as the primary point of escalation for businesses and brokers, ensuring timely product imports and correct classification.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
- US Customs Broker License.
- 6+ years of experience in trade compliance or customs, including at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity in import/export compliance.
- Strong understanding of HTS classification, export compliance, and foreign trade agreements.
- ERP experience required, SAP preferred
- Expertise in Mexico and Canadian customs regulations.
- Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration across multiple facilities.
