Description
Responsible with complying with Customs import regulations in accordance with the World Trade Organization. As well as setting the strategy for import and export programs while developing and coordinating with the internal cross functional teams.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations to ensure efficiency and effectiveness across all departments.
- Provide strategic direction to management on the company’s international business including but not limited to freight, imports, exports and operational activities;
- Partner with the Sales team when assistance is needed to provide customer support for new customers, existing customer presentations and/or meetings;
- Provide daily guidance and expertise across company for logistical export activities to ensure duty efficient and compliant trade compliance, including proper valuation (such as transfer pricing), classification, country of origin, marking, drawback, AD/CVD, duty-preference programs, and Other Government Agencies;
- Manage direct customer interactions on shipment issues to ensure timely, accurate shipments, tracking and proper documentation;
- Sustain rapport with key customers/accounts by relationship marketing exploring specific needs; anticipating new opportunities;
- Manage and update the ocean, air and land freight rates to ensure competitive advantage for the company;
- Identify optimization opportunities for the International Operations through analysis, monitoring and development of new techniques and strategies;
- Develop and implement global import/export management processes, procedures and training for company personnel to ensure all international shipments are complying with US and foreign countries trade and customs regulations;
- Develop legal contracts with custom brokers and freight forwarders to streamline foreign distribution;
- Provide counsel/assistance to employees regarding export/import regulatory and licensing matters; assists with international quoting initiatives;
- Assist with counsel investigations on export/import suspected violations and prepares/reviews documentation as needed;
- Remain knowledgeable in the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Export Administration Regulations (EAR) by attending various seminars, reviews the Federal Register and other industry publications for any upcoming;
- Develop, implement and maintain customs compliance policies, procedure and documentation.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 5+ years' experience working in logistics, import/export freight forwarding
- Experience working in International trade
- Supply chain management and transportation experience
