Overview
The Senior Manager, Global Trade Compliance will be responsible for managing and overseeing all customs and trade compliance activities for the company. They will ensure that the company’s import and export operations follow all relevant laws and regulations, and that all necessary permits and licenses are obtained. This position will manage a team for developing and implementing policies and procedures and improving operational efficiencies for Direct Imports and Private Brands. Monitor and assess impact of changes to Global Customs and related laws and regulations and collaborate with leadership to take vital action to comply and/or mitigate impact.
Primary Responsibilities
- Manage and lead Veyer’s Customs & Trade Compliance program to ensure all imported and exported products comply with all relevant laws and regulations. Leverage Global Trade subject matter expertise to update Customs Compliance Manual and support with standardization of trade compliance processes. Manage the relationship with Veyer’s Customs brokers regarding compliance.
- Manage compliance with Customs and Border Protections (CBP) and other governmental agency regulations to exercise responsible supervision and control and risk mitigation. Broker Management and performs audits to evaluate compliance levels and effectiveness of procedures, policies, and controls. Identifies opportunities to secure duty refunds and take advantage on duty saving programs. Deliver on key metrics and reporting.
- Manage the relationships with Treasury department, bank and vendors to supervise the team with Vendor On Account payments and discrepancies; Transactions will equate to over $200M in payables. Manages communication with outside vendors, internal merchandise and replenishment departments, in regards to Letters of Credit and Open Account Transactions.
- Manages the Damages and Defective program for Direct Import vendors where money is deducted from vendor payments due to damage and defective store returns. Candidate will supervise the team to coordinate with Financial Control vendor specific deductions and make necessary arrangement to process deductions from vendor payment. Candidate will manage and track central database for the D&D program.
- Supervise and manage department in areas of Classification, Valuation, Section 301 Tariffs, Antidumping & Countervailing Duty petition, Protest, ISA/CTPAT programs. Manage communication with US Customs & Border Protection with regards to binding rulings and Customs Form 28/29. The candidate will assist supporting NVOCC business operations with regards to offering brokerage services to prospective new customers
Education And Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Business, International Business, Logistics or equivalent experience
- Minimum 8-10 years of experience in related field; International Logistics, Imports/Exports, Global Trade Management.
- Must be a Licensed Customs Broker, Experience with Importer Self- Assessment and Supply Chain Security criteria with CTPAT
- Strong background in various areas of import/export ocean transportation and documentation.
- Customs Compliance Expertise: In-depth knowledge of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations, import/export laws, and tariff classifications.
- HTS Classification/COO Verification:Skilled in determining and applying the correct Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) codes for imported goods, as well as Country of Origin (COO) verification.
- Trade Agreements and Duty Management: Understanding of free trade agreements, duty drawback, and other programs to minimize costs and ensure compliance.
- CTPAT Compliance Program:Maintain CTPAT (Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism) program, including conducting annual security self-assessments, coordinating supply chain security audits, and delivering CTPAT training to staff and suppliers. Serves as primary liaison with U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
- Licensing and Permits: Experience obtaining and managing import/export licenses, permits, and other government agency requirements (FDA, USDA, etc.).
- Client Communication: Strong ability to advise clients on customs regulations, documentation requirements, and shipment status.
- Problem Resolution: Capable of addressing and resolving customs holds, exams, and other import/export issues efficiently.
- Recordkeeping and Audit Support: Ensures accurate recordkeeping and supports internal/external audits as required by law.
- Technology Proficiency: Familiarity with customs brokerage software, ACE (Automated Commercial Environment), and other relevant systems.
- Continuous Education: Commitment to staying updated on changes in customs regulations, trade policies, and industry best practices.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, ACCESS), and AS400, Oracle experience
- Remote: While this position does not currently require relocation, candidates within a radius of our physical locations, including, but not be limited to Boca Raton, Itasca, and Austin, will be required to work in the office a minimum of three days per week.

Pay, Benefits & Work Schedule: The salary range for this role is $82,900/year to $137,650/year, however all state and local minimum wages will be complied with, resulting in a possible adjustment to the salary range displayed.
