Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Customs Specialist located in the Ipswich are. The Customs Specialist will be responsible for managing import and export documentation, ensuring compliance with customs regulations, and coordinating with different departments to facilitate smooth and timely shipment processes. Tasks will also include handling customs brokerage, accurately completing paperwork, and communicating with clients and authorities.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in processing and completing Import and export entries using CDS, for European road freight clearances and deep-sea ocean freight clearances.
- Confidence in navigating HMRC’s online tariffs (UK online trade tariff and other .Gov resources) with a solid understanding of customs commodity codes, procedures and CDS requirements. 
- Knowledge of Free Trade Agreements, as well as an understanding of Origin and Preference.
- Experience of a wide range of entry declarations (including home use, returned goods, temporary import/export, multiple item).
- Experience with CNS and Destin8 port systems. Our forwarding software is Multifreight/Multished, experience with this software would be beneficial.
- Able to calculate and process customs duties and taxes, ensuring efficient clearance of goods through ports of entry. 
- Confidence in communicating with customs authorities, shipping agents, internal departments, and clients to resolve issues and provide guidance
- Able to raise T1 documents and knowledge regarding the transit procedure.

- Strong attention to detail, ensuring work meets the AEO standards.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- Being part of a team responsible for arranging a variety of customs declarations for key clients, ensuring prompt processing to maintain a high level of service.
