Summary
Celestica is seeking an analytical and strategic Logistics Manager to optimize all inbound and outbound transportation, freight, and customs compliance for our manufacturing operation. The ideal candidate will have 6-8 years of experience in global logistics and trade compliance, with a focus on high-value electronics and complex hardware, including systems with specialized requirements like liquid cooling and data center racks. This role is critical for reducing freight costs, ensuring on-time delivery (OTD), and managing all third-party logistics (3PL) providers and carriers.
Key Responsibilities
- Global Freight Management: Oversee and manage all freight operations, including carrier selection, contract negotiation, shipment consolidation, and route optimization to meet customer OTD requirements while minimizing transportation costs.
- Trade Compliance & Customs: Ensure strict adherence to all domestic and international import/export regulations, customs laws, and trade agreements. Manage broker relationships and maintain necessary documentation for all shipments.
- 3PL and Carrier Performance: Manage relationships with third-party logistics providers (3PLs) and freight carriers. Establish and monitor performance metrics (KPIs), conduct regular business reviews, and drive continuous improvement in service reliability and cost-effectiveness.
- Cost Analysis & Budgeting: Own and manage the site's freight budget. Conduct regular cost-to-serve analyses to identify opportunities for mode shifts, duty reductions, and overall savings.
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks related to global supply chain disruptions, customs holds, and transportation delays. Develop contingency plans to ensure business continuity.
- Cross-Functional Alignment: Work closely with Planning, Warehouse Operations, and Customer Program Management (CPM) to ensure logistics capabilities align with the production schedule and customer delivery expectations.
- Systems Utilization: Drive the effective utilization of Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and other logistics software to track shipments, audit invoices, and generate performance reports.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- 6 to 8 years of progressive experience in logistics, transportation, or global trade compliance, with a minimum of 3 years managing a team or functional area.
- Direct experience managing global logistics for high-tech, electronics, or complex system manufacturing (EMS preferred). Familiarity with handling specialized, high-value freight related to data center infrastructure.
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, International Business, or a related field. Professional certifications (e.g., CTL, CSCP) are highly valued.
- Expert knowledge of Transportation Management Systems (TMS), freight auditing tools, and strong functional understanding of ERP/MRP system integration with logistics modules.
- In-depth knowledge of U.S. and international customs regulations, classification, and export control regulations.
- Proven ability to negotiate contracts and manage vendor performance.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Work Environment: Primarily a professional office environment, with regular visits to the shipping dock, warehouse, and production areas to audit procedures and manage freight flow.
- Physical Demands: Requires extensive use of computers for analysis, reporting, and communication. Periodic walking and standing are required for facility oversight.
- Flexibility: Must be highly responsive and available to manage time-critical, international logistics issues that may occur outside of standard business hours.
