We are looking to add a Trader to the team. The ideal candidate will possess strong computer and analytical skills and a willingness to contribute to a team. This role works closely with portfolio managers, advisors, and operations to maintain the integrity of trading workflows and contribute to the overall investment process. A successful candidate will have the ability to effectively communicate with team members, critical attention to detail, strong written and verbal communication skills, an energetic and positive attitude, and a willingness to learn. Organizational skills, resiliency and flexibility, and promptness are necessary in all tasks and responsibilities.
Trader Responsibilities
- Primary responsibility for the trading functions within the firm as part of the trading team, including trading mutual funds, equities, options, and individual bonds in client accounts to ensure adherence with our recommended model portfolios.
- Analyze, create, and execute trades in client portfolios to bring into alignment with investment allocations.
- Process simple and complex tax trading requests for gain/losses at advisors’ requests.
- Monitor market conditions and execute trades in a timely and efficient manner.
- Work closely with the operations team to resolve trade-related issues and discrepancies.
- Proactively analyze clients’ portfolio allocation to determine if they are within tolerance bands.
- Audit client transactions, fees, cash balances, and securities to ensure compliance with firm policies.
- Utilize trading platforms, order management systems, and other financial tools to execute trades.
- Ensure adherence to internal controls, compliance requirements, and regulatory standards (e.g., SEC, FINRA).
- Participate in continuous process improvement efforts and support implementation of trading system enhancements.
- Maintain accurate records of trades and transactions.
- Run weekly reports for advisors.
Travel
Qualifications And Experience
- One to three years of industry experience, strongly preferred, particularly within an RIA.
- Experience working in a Portfolio Management System, Orion or Black Diamond preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Data Analytics or a related field.
- Options trading experience, preferred.
- Experience with portfolio rebalancing and tax loss harvesting.
- Strong proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel.
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
- Series 65 preferred. Willingness to obtain Series 65 within 12 months if not already certified.
- Experience with financial analysis software such as Bloomberg or Morningstar, preferred.
- Detail-oriented self-starter with problem solving ability, adaptability, and flexibility.
