Thomas Associates (TA) is an association management company that has served industrial trade associations for over 110 years. We are seeking an Associate Executive Director/Account Executive (not a sales position) to manage and support several of our trade association clients. The Associate Executive Director/Account Executive will be responsible for supporting the strategic, operational, and financial management of the organizations, with accountability to the associations’ Board of Directors. Key responsibilities will include:
- Strategic Leadership: Work closely with the Board of Directors to develop and execute the associations’ strategic plans to ensure alignment with their missions.
- Operational Oversight: Manage day-to-day operations, including administration, programs, and meeting planning. Work with committees to carry out their initiatives addressing industry education, promotional projects, and standards development, among others.
- Financial Management: Develop and manage annual budgets, ensure fiscal responsibility, and identify revenue-generating opportunities.
- Membership Growth & Engagement: Implement strategies for member recruitment, retention, and engagement.
- Meeting Planning: Plan and attend in-person and virtual meetings. Prepare agendas, minutes, and implement action plans from meetings.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree required and five years of relevant work experience. Experience working with associations is not required.
- Self-starter with ability to manage through complex or undefined situations.
- Enthusiastic and service-oriented professional.
- Excellent written and verbal skills. Able to draft minutes from meetings in a concise and clear way.
- Ability to be a spokesperson and represent an industry before various audiences.
- Possess strong project and team management skills for the day-to-day management of internal client team(s) and association projects.
- Ability to successfully manage multiple clients, partners, and projects.
- Ability to moderate meetings and provide the necessary guidance to achieve consensus.
- Experience drafting budgets and implementing financial plans.
- Ability to interface with executive leadership, establish credibility, and build effective relationships.
