Alkermes, Inc. seeks a detail-oriented, self-starting candidate to join our Global Trade Compliance Team within our Procurement Center of Excellence in the role of Trade Compliance Manager reporting to the Associate Director of Trade Compliance.
Responsibilities
The Trade Compliance Manager will support international shipments and ensure Alkermes' adherence to global trade compliance rules, laws, regulations, and Alkermes’ procedures to ensure our global supply chain remains compliant and operates smoothly.
Responsibilities Will Include But May Not Be Limited To
- Daily management of international shipments for trade compliance purposes:
- Draft, review, revise, and otherwise manage documentation required for an international shipment
- Classify goods according to the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States and relevant authorities
- Determine the Country of Origin of goods
- Assign valuation of goods
- Satisfy US Customs and Partner Government Agencies' requirements for import or export of goods, and similar foreign government requirements in their respective jurisdictions
- Take ownership of ensuring On Time In Full (OTIF) delivery of all international shipments with respect to trade compliance requirements
- Manage internal customer relations:
- Advise internal customers on trade compliance requirements for international shipments
- Maintain vigilance against trade compliance violations
- Establish trusting, forward-looking, and collaborative cross-functional relations with internal customers
- Manage external relations:
- Coordinate with suppliers on provision of trade compliance and adjacent services
- Hold suppliers accountable to acceptable performance levels
- Liaise as needed with US Customs and other government agencies having jurisdiction over an international shipment
- Monitor for relevant changes in the regulatory and trade policy landscape and translate these changes into procedural tasks
- Departmental and Organizational Goals:
- Conduct all activities to a high ethical standard
- Seek and participate in process improvement and cost-saving opportunities
- Demonstrate a willingness and ability to grow the role and the new hire’s capabilities within it
Qualifications
- 6 to 9 years of relevant work experience is required.
- Experience in trade compliance, logistics, or supply chain is required
- Experience within or adjacent to the pharmaceutical industry is preferred
- Candidates must demonstrate an understanding, and an ability to apply the principles, of international logistics and trade compliance, Incoterms, and the Harmonized System of tariff classification among other areas of knowledge. Candidates must be skilled at clear communications in a corporate or office environment and in the use of tools for this purpose e.g., Microsoft Office, video conferencing software, and other commonly used applications.
The annual base salary for this position ranges from $115,000 to $135,000. In addition, this position is eligible for an annual performance pay bonus.
