About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and highly capable Freight Forwarder to join our logistics team. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in international freight operations, customs compliance, and end-to-end shipment coordination, with particular experience in UK Customs processes including the Customs Declaration Service (CDS), import/export procedures, and ATA Carnets.
This role requires someone who is confident working in a fast-paced environment, capable of taking ownership of complex shipments, and comfortable making decisions under pressure while maintaining accuracy and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end freight forwarding operations across air, sea, and road freight
- Prepare, submit, and manage customs declarations using the UK Customs Declaration Service (CDS)
- Handle import and export documentation, ensuring full compliance with HMRC and international regulations
- Coordinate and process shipments using ATA Carnets for temporary exports/imports
- Liaise with customs authorities, border agencies, carriers, and overseas agents
- Classify goods using HS codes and ensure correct duty and VAT application
- Advise clients on customs requirements, documentation, and regulatory changes
- Resolve customs queries, delays, and inspections efficiently
- Negotiate freight rates with carriers and service providers where required
- Track shipments and provide proactive updates to clients
- Ensure adherence to Incoterms and international trade compliance standards
- Maintain accurate records and audit-ready documentation
Key Requirements
- Proven experience as a Freight Forwarder (minimum 5+ years preferred)
- Strong working knowledge of UK customs processes and CDS (Customs Declaration Service)
- Hands-on experience with import/export customs clearance procedures
- Experience handling ATA Carnets and temporary export/import movements
- Solid understanding of Incoterms, HS classification, and international trade compliance
- Familiarity with freight management systems and customs software
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage time-critical shipments
- Excellent communication and client service skills
- High attention to detail and strong organisational ability
- Ability to work accurately under pressure and manage multiple priorities simultaneously

- Knowledge of post-Brexit UK/EU customs processes
