The Import/Export Specialist for Indian Motorcycle is responsible for ensuring the effective and timely execution of international wholegood shipments, including motorcycles and related products. This role supports day-to-day global logistics operations with a focus on service levels, cost optimization, compliance, and exceptional customer service. The position will serve as a key liaison between International Business Units, 3PL partners, and internal stakeholders while driving continuous improvement across international trade processes.
Responsibilities
· Execute end-to-end international outbound shipments (WG & PGA) from order release through delivery, meeting monthly and quarter-end ship targets
· Serve as the primary logistics contact for International Business Units, distributors, 3PLs, carriers, and internal partners
· Manage shipment exceptions, including quality holds, rework coordination, release decisioning, and issue resolution
· Oversee non-standard and high-risk shipments (engineering, testing, pre-production, homologation, and third-party direct ship)
· Manage Letters of Credit, including amendments, collectability verification, and coordination with Finance, AP, and banking partners
· Validate freight invoices, ensure accurate GL coding, and support trade, financial, and SOLAS compliance
· Support distributor enablement through AS400 customer setup, master data maintenance, and DEX training/support
· Provide operational oversight for PGA shipments, including order changes, credit re-release coordination, and direct-ship invoicing
· Own international customer cases (WG & PGA), including escalation management and closure
· Monitor logistics performance and 3PL execution, identify cost and service improvement opportunities, and report results to leadership
· Support new market launches, regulatory changes, and special projects related to global logistics
Qualifications:
· Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field
· 3–5+ years of experience in international trade or global logistics, with strong knowledge of trade regulations, export documentation, and customs requirements
· Proven experience optimizing and automating business processes to increase efficiencies
· Strong analytical skills specific to logistics, transportation, and performance metrics
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a focus on proactive customer service
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office & AS400
· Ability to identify root causes of cost or service issues and develop/execute mitigation plans
· Self-starter who thrives both independently and within a collaborative team environment
· Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work cross-functionally and influence without authority
· Highly organized with strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
Working Conditions
· Hybrid office environment (3 days in office, 2 days of flex)
- Compensation & Benefits: The starting pay range for Minnesota is $70,000 to $95,000 per year. Individual salaries and positioning within the range are determined through a wide variety of factors, including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills, and geography. While individual pay could fall anywhere in the range based on these factors, it is not common to start at the high end or top of the range.
