Trade Compliance Coordinator, you'll play a key role in supporting our Trade Compliance function and helping ensure the organisation conducts its import, export and customs activities in line with applicable UK and international regulations.
You'll gain hands-on experience across a range of trade compliance activities, supporting the movement of export-controlled goods, technology and services within the defence sector.
This role is perfect for someone who is highly organised, detail-oriented and interested in developing a career in customs compliance, export controls and business assurance.
What will I be delivering?- Support import and export activities — Assist with the preparation, review and submission of import, export and customs documentation to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Maintain trade compliance records — Ensure import, export, customs records are accurate, complete and stored in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate shipment tracking — Monitor shipments and customs activities, helping to resolve delays and documentation issues in a timely manner.
- Maintain trade compliance systems and data — Update compliance databases and ERP systems, ensuring information is accurate and up to date.
- Liaise with external partners — Work closely with freight forwarders, customs brokers, carriers and other third parties to support compliant international trade operations.
- Support export licensing activities — Assist with the administration and monitoring of export licences, including gathering information and maintaining licence records.
- Assist with compliance screening — Support restricted party, sanctions and end-user screening activities in line with internal procedures.
- Support audits and compliance reviews — Prepare documentation and assist with internal audits, regulatory inspections and compliance assessments.
- Identify and escalate compliance concerns — Highlight discrepancies, missing documentation or potential compliance risks to the Trade Compliance team.
- Contribute to continuous improvement — Support the development of procedures and best practices that strengthen the organisation's compliance framework.
What do I need to bring with me?Requirements:
- Previous administrative experience — Experience working in customs and export compliance would be beneficial.
- Strong attention to detail — Able to work accurately with documentation, data and compliance records.
- Excellent organisational skills — Capable of managing multiple tasks, priorities and deadlines effectively.
- Strong communication skills — Comfortable communicating with colleagues, external suppliers and regulatory stakeholders.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office — Confident using Outlook, Word and Excel, with experience of business systems or ERP platforms advantageous.
- Analytical and problem-solving mindset — Able to investigate issues and support practical solutions.
- High level of integrity — Comfortable handling confidential and sensitive information appropriately.
- Interest in trade compliance and international trade — A willingness to learn and develop within a specialist compliance function.
