Customs Compliance Specialist

We are currently assisting our client in the search for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Customs Compliance Specialist to join their team. This key role will ensure that their global supply chain complies with all customs and international trade regulations, with a focus on tariff classification, country of origin, customs valuation, and more.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing customs entries, ensuring compliance, and supporting operational issues related to customs clearance.

Key Responsibilities:

Ensure compliance with customs and international trade rules and regulations, focusing on tariff classification, customs valuation, SPS controls, Incoterms, and more.

Manage all customs entries for both imports and exports, ensuring they are accurate, compliant, and properly stored.

Develop and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) for customs processes and effectively communicate changes to relevant stakeholders.

Act as the primary point of contact with Customs Authorities.

Support regional supply chains by managing daily operational issues, liaising with suppliers, customs brokers, and freight forwarders.

Ensure the accuracy of data entry in the ERP system, including HS codes and country of origin.

Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for any issues related to customs entries or export declarations.

Ensure Free Trade Agreement compliance, including declarations of origin and Long Term Supplier Declarations.

Provide support with market access requirements for new products or supply chains.

Assist with internal audits and escalate any complex customs issues or risks as needed.

Essential Skills & Qualifications:

Relevant qualifications or certifications in Supply Chain, International Trade, or Customs.

Previous experience with customs, import/export documentation, and processes.

Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.

Fluent in English, both written and verbal.

Excellent collaborative skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders, including third-party brokers and customs authorities.

Strong operational and organisational skills.

Problem-solving ability and a proactive, can-do attitude.

Integrity, ownership, and a strong commitment to compliance.
