About
Dear Recruiting Manager,
I am writing to apply for roles in the transport industry and maritime sector. I am particularly drawn to this roles as they aligns closely with my academic training and professional experience in transport economics, maritime logistics, and policy research.
Please find my curriculum vitae attached for your consideration. I am currently employed as an Assistant Director in the Western Cape Department of Mobility within the Policies, Research, and Systems directorate. Over the past nine years, I have built a strong foundation in research, data analysis, and policy development within the transport sector, contributing to strategic planning and evidence-based decision-making. Prior to this, I gained six years of experience at the Department of Police, Roads, and Transport, where I started as a Transport Economist intern. This role provided me with practical exposure to transport planning, economic analysis, and logistics systems, as well as involvement in key provincial transport initiatives.
In 2022, I was honoured to receive the Best Co-Written Research Paper Award at the South African Transport Conference (SATC) for researchers under 35. I hold a Master’s degree in Transportation Studies from the University of Cape Town and have recently completed an MSc in Shipping Management and Logistics at the World Maritime University in Sweden. These qualifications have equipped me with both rigorous analytical skills and an understanding of regulatory frameworks.
For administrative purposes, I would like to indicate that my notice period for my current role is 2–4 weeks. My employment equity status is African Female (Designated Group), and I am a South African resident.
I am enthusiastic about the opportunity to contribute and to support the Department's mandate through high-quality research and analysis. I would welcome the opportunity to discuss my application further.
