About

Mario Pinto is a trade compliance and customs expert with more than 19 years of experience in customs administration and international trade, based in Guayaquil, Ecuador.

He currently serves as CEO at CITICUSTOMS, a licensed customs brokerage agency and part of Grupo Citikold, a logistics holding company with operations across Ecuador, Peru, Chile, and Colombia. He is a licensed Customs Broker in Ecuador and bilingual in Spanish and English.

Mario previously served as Director General of Ecuador's National Customs Authority (SENAE), leading the country's customs administration. During his tenure, he spearheaded the drafting and passage of Ecuador's new Customs Law and lead the development of the customs authority's new IT system in partnership with the Korea Customs Service (South Korea). He also served as Chairman of the WCO Audit Committee at the World Customs Organization, overseeing financial and governance controls across the international customs community. Before joining the public sector, he led a customs and trade consultancy advising importers and exporters on supply chain optimization and technical defense during post-clearance audits.
