Customs Specialist – Fully Remote
About the Role
Fn Customs Limited, an AEO-authorised customs clearance and freight forwarding agency based in Nottingham, is seeking an experienced Customs Clearance Specialist to join our operations team.
This is a fully remote position for an experienced customs professional who is ready to take the next step in their career with a growing, quality-focused company.
Key Responsibilities
- Process import and export declarations using CDS (Customs Declaration Service)
- Handle NCTS (New Computerised Transit System) and T1 movements
- Complete IPAFFS submissions for products of animal origin
- Maintain compliance with UK customs regulations and AEO standards
- Liaise with freight forwarders, hauliers, and clients to ensure smooth customs clearance
- Manage customs documentation and maintain accurate records
- Support the company's AEO authorisation through adherence to quality standards
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 1-2 years hands-on experience in UK customs clearance operations
- Proven experience processing declarations through CDS
- Working knowledge of NCTS and transit procedures
- Familiarity with IPAFFS for POAO imports
- Experience with customs software systems (Descartes, Destin8, or CNS)
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
- Excellent communication skills for client and stakeholder liaison
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Right to work in the UK
- Reliable home internet connection and suitable workspace
Desirable Experience
- Food import clearance experience
- Working within an AEO-authorised environment
- Knowledge of tariff classification and valuation
