Irish Freight Solutions (IFS) is a growing logistics company specialising in freight movement between the UK and Ireland. Due to continued growth, we are looking for a Customs Clearance Agent to join our team and support our expanding customs operation.
About the Role
You will play a key role in ensuring the smooth movement of goods across borders, handling customs declarations and supporting customers through the import/export process.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and submit import, export, and transit declarations
- Use systems such as Thyme IT / Descartes, CNS, and Destin8
- Ensure full compliance with HMRC regulations and UK/EU customs legislation
- Accurately calculate duties, VAT, and other charges
- Liaise with customers, agents, carriers, and customs authorities to resolve queries
- Maintain accurate records and audit trails
- Support continuous improvement in customs processes and service delivery
Skills & Experience
- Experience in imports, exports, or transit customs within freight forwarding, logistics, or haulage
- Working knowledge of customs systems (e.g. Thyme IT / Descartes)
- Strong understanding of UK and EU customs procedures
- High attention to detail and ability to work under pressure
- Strong communication skills and a professional approach
Desirable (Not Essential)
- Experience with post-Brexit customs processes
- Relevant customs or logistics qualifications
