Customs Manager
Location: Hybrid (London Office, with an expectation of 2 days per week in-office)

Our client is a leading accountancy and advisory firm, part of the global network with offices across the UK. We provide expert services in areas including audit, tax, advisory, and consulting. Our Indirect Tax team is looking for an experienced Customs Manager to join us in delivering high-quality support to clients across various sectors.
Role Overview:
As a Customs Manager, you will play a crucial role in advising clients on all aspects of customs duties, compliance, and international trade. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work with a diverse client base, including multinational corporations and SMEs. You’ll lead key projects, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and manage client relationships, while staying at the forefront of changes in customs legislation and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert advice to clients on customs duties and compliance, covering areas such as customs classification, origin, valuation, special procedures, AEO (Authorized Economic Operator) authorisation, excise duties, and duty reclaims.
- Manage complex customs projects, including customs warehousing, Inward Processing, and AEO, from initial preparation to application, implementation, and ongoing compliance.
- Prepare and deliver proposals to both existing and prospective clients, showcasing the firm’s expertise and value.
- Build and nurture strong client relationships, acting as the primary point of contact and taking ownership of the delivery of work to ensure high-quality, timely results.
- Agree on fees, manage budgets for client projects, and oversee billing processes.
- Collaborate with the wider VAT team and other departments within the firm to provide seamless service to clients.
- Support the development and use of an in-house Customs Data Analytics solution to identify new opportunities and mitigate risks for clients.
- Stay updated on legislative, regulatory, and technical developments in customs and international trade, and assess how these changes impact clients’ operations.
Skills and Experience:
- At least 5 years of experience in the customs and international trade environment.
- Proactive in identifying new opportunities and growing client relationships.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and effectively to clients and colleagues.
- Detail-oriented, with a strong commitment to delivering high-quality work and ensuring client satisfaction.
- Experience in managing client projects and budgets, and a hands-on approach to delivering results.
- Ability and enthusiasm to mentor and support the development of junior team members.
