About the Role
This position plays a critical role in safeguarding and optimizing international trade activities across North America. The Trade Compliance Manager will own import and export compliance programs, ensuring regulatory alignment while identifying cost-saving opportunities. You'll collaborate closely with internal departments and external partners to manage classification, valuation, documentation, audits, and FTA claims. This is a hybrid role based in Charlotte, NC, and relocation support is available for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all import/export compliance operations across the North American region
- Maintain and update compliance manuals, SOPs, and internal controls
- Lead relationships with brokers and forwarders; conduct performance reviews and audits
- Analyze and optimize FTA eligibility, tariff classifications, and duty recovery programs
- Conduct internal compliance audits and report risk and improvement actions to leadership
- Train internal stakeholders on customs regulations, documentation, and systems
- Monitor and communicate updates in global trade regulations and tariff schedules
- Coordinate with local/global trade compliance teams to align best practices
Candidate Requirements
- Licensed U.S. Customs Broker – mandatory
- 5–7+ years’ experience in international trade compliance
- Deep knowledge of U.S. customs regulations and HTS classification
- Experience with SAP S/4 Hana, GTS, or similar systems
- Familiarity with NAFTA/USMCA, BIS regulations, and CBP recordkeeping
- Based in or willing to relocate to the Charlotte, NC area (relocation support available)
- Strong communication skills and ability to influence cross-functional teams
