A long-established Transport company is seeking an experienced and highly organized European Road Freight Forwarder to manage and coordinate full-load (FTL), part-load (LTL), and groupage shipments across Europe. The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of international road transport procedures, routing, customs regulations, and carrier management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and coordinate road freight movements across Europe, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
- Manage end-to-end shipping processes including booking, tracking, documentation, and invoicing.
- Source and negotiate with hauliers and transport partners to secure optimal rates and service levels.
- Handle all transport documentation including CMRs, transit documents, and customs declarations as required.
- Monitor shipments and proactively address any delays, disruptions, or client concerns.
- Ensure compliance with European transport regulations, customs procedures, and health and safety standards.
- Liaise with internal departments (customer service, warehouse, finance) to ensure smooth operations.
- Maintain and develop customer relationships, acting as a key point of contact for logistics queries.
- Provide regular status updates to clients and escalate issues where necessary.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Min 2+ years’ experience in European road freight forwarding within a local forwarder.
- Strong knowledge of international road transport networks, incoterms, and EU transport legislation.
- Proficient with freight forwarding software and systems (e.g., TMS, ERP platforms).
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Fluent in English
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Understanding of customs procedures and cross-border documentation.
