Position: Director of Transportation & Trade Compliance

Salary Range: $140k to $160k DOE
Bonus: 20%

Job Responsibilities: The Director of Transportation & Trade Compliance will lead all aspects of international and domestic freight movement, global logistics strategy, and import/export compliance. This role will be responsible for developing freight carrier relationships, overseeing trade compliance programs including KORUS, USMCA, and First Sale, and driving cost-effective, compliant, and reliable transportation solutions across the supply chain. This is a hybrid leadership role requiring extensive knowledge of freight contracting, U.S. Customs regulations, and international trade policy. The ideal candidate will bring strong negotiation skills, deep trade compliance experience, and a continuous improvement mindset rooted in Lean and Six Sigma principles.
- Lead global and domestic transportation operations across ocean, air, LTL, and FTL lanes.
- Negotiate and manage international and domestic freight contracts, service level agreements, and rate structures.
- Select, onboard, and manage relationships with freight forwarders, carriers, and brokers.
- Drive cost savings, transit reliability, and freight lane optimization using data and KPIs.
- Ensure company-wide compliance with import/export regulations, including HTS classifications, valuation, and country of origin determination.
- Oversee compliance programs for KORUS (Korea–U.S. Free Trade Agreement), USMCA, C-TPAT, and First Sale.
- Act as primary contact with customs brokers and regulatory authorities.
- Monitor and implement regulatory changes impacting international trade and U.S. CBP enforcement trends.
- Utilize Epicor Prophet 21 (P21) and TMS platforms to manage and monitor transportation and compliance workflows.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean and Six Sigma methods.
- Report transportation KPIs and compliance metrics to executive leadership.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Supply Chain, Finance, Procurement, and IT.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, International Business, or closely related degree required.
- MBA preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in transportation, logistics, and trade compliance leadership roles.
- Extensive experience in freight contract negotiation and global logistics strategy.
- Strong working knowledge of U.S. Customs, HTS, Incoterms, and international trade agreements including KORUS.
- Experience with Epicor P21, TMS, and freight audit platforms.
- Lean and/or Six Sigma certification preferred.
- Strong leadership, negotiation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Ability to travel up to 20%.
