Natixis CIB Americas is seeking a Commodity Trader (Associate or VP) based in New York. The role involves trading U.S. Energy and managing positions, including Energy Derivatives (linear and non-linear). We are looking for a trader with either 2+ years of experience in Energy trading or 5+ years of experience in Energy Markets within a financial institution. Knowledge of the U.S. Gas and U.S. Power markets is a plus.
- Maintain awareness of all market trends and developments, economic and financial data, and other important factors (e.g., fiscal changes) likely to affect the trading book.
- Formulate and implement trading strategies, as well as effective hedging strategies arising from client transactions, within authorized trading limits.
- Monitor trading positions against performance and take timely action as needed.
- Ensure transaction execution meets client and Natixis requirements, notably regarding timely and professional pricing, as well as ethical execution of customer flows.
- Work closely with sales and structuring teams to propose appropriate products to clients.
- Collaborate with the quant and IT teams to ensure that appropriate models and tools are implemented, sponsoring specific development when necessary.
- Participate in meetings and client visits as required.
- Ensure clients are cleared by Risk, Legal, Compliance, and Operations before trading.
- Ensure that new products are approved by the NPC before trading.
- Verify that an appropriate credit line and documentation are in place before trading with any market counterparty.
- Ensure that products within the trading book are accurately recorded and marked to market/model; escalate unmarked positions to management.
- Ensure the daily P&L of the book produced by Market Risk and reported client contributions are materially accurate.
- Provide cover for absent colleagues on the desk, as required by line management.
- Ensure all trades executed are recorded in a timely manner, assisting in the resolution of trade breaks as necessary; report late booked or amended trades to the Risk Department.
- Liaise with counterparties to provide quotes and obtain market intelligence.
- Sign and adhere to market risk mandates, in terms of limits and products, at all times.
- Report any suspected operational risk incidents (loss or gain) to the Head of Desk and the Operational Risk department.
- Comply with all applicable legal, regulatory, and internal compliance requirements as issued from time to time, including, but not limited to, the Compliance policies and procedures, security policies and procedures, and financial security requirements, including the prevention of financial crime and fraud, as well as reporting obligations to the Money Laundering Reporting Officer.
- Maintain and develop product knowledge to ensure the ability to undertake the role; complete all mandatory training as required to attain and maintain competence.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Practical experience in commodities trading
- Good understanding of clients and client needs
- Knowledge of typical trading media (brokers, intermediation platforms, etc.) and compliance procedures
- Exposure to and pricing experience in U.S. Energy commodities underlyings
- Extremely rigorous and reliable, especially regarding deal pricing, book risk management, and P&L production
- Fluent, clear, and efficient communicator
- Team player who can also work independently
- Fluency in English

The salary range for this position will be between $150,000 - 225,000. Natixis is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. Actual base salary will vary and will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, education, skills set, applicable licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Base salary is only one component of our total rewards package. Natixis also offers a generous benefits package, and you may be eligible for a discretionary incentive award depending on company and individual performance.
