As we expand our footprint in the UK and Irish markets, we are looking for a Customs Expert to bridge the gap between complex regulations and seamless technology.
The Role
We are seeking a Customs Subject Matter Expert (SME) specialising in UK customs regulations. You will be the "internal voice" of customs compliance, ensuring our AI platform remains up-to-date with evolving laws while providing high-level support to our growing customer base.
Key Responsibilities
1. Customer Support & Advisory
- Act as the point of contact for customers regarding technical customs queries for the UK along with a few other strong customs experts.
- Support customers in troubleshooting entry rejections, and wider inquiries
- Guide customers through onboarding, ensuring their specific requirements are correctly mapped within our system.
2. Product & Compliance Leadership
- Monitor changes in UK (HMRC/CDS) customs legislation and translate them into technical requirements for our product team. (low priority)
3. Operational Excellence
- Provide internal training to the sales and support teams on customs fundamentals and new regulatory updates (e.g., ICS2, S&S filings).
- Liaise with customs authorities (HMRC/Revenue.ie) as needed to resolve systemic issues.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Deep Expertise: 3+ years of experience in UK and/or Ireland customs brokerage, freight forwarding, or trade compliance. (Mandatory)
Systems Knowledge: Proficiency in CDS (UK) is mandatory. Experience with AIS/ AES, NCTS and ICS2 is a significant plus.
Technical Savvy: Comfortable working with SaaS platforms and a strong interest in how AI can automate traditional manual processes.
Communication: Ability to explain complex customs "nuances" to non-expert customers clearly.
Problem-Solving: A proactive approach to investigating why an entry failed and how to fix the root data issue.
