Summary:
Our client, a global biopharmaceutical company, is seeking a Global Logistics Manager to manage intercompany clinical and commercial material movements, including drug substance, drug product and finished goods, from order placement through to final delivery. The successful candidate will support the planning and distribution of pharmaceutical products to and from third-party manufacturing, packaging and distribution facilities globally, ensuring shipments are executed in line with Good Distribution Practice (GDP), import/export compliance requirements and cold chain standards.
Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day operational logistics planning, ensuring timely and compliant execution of material movements
- Own day-to-day planning and execution activities, including order-to-cash related logistics coordination
- Coordinate temperature-controlled shipping and delivery between contract manufacturing operations, packaging sites, distribution centres and customers
- Build and maintain strong internal and external relationships through effective communication and stakeholder management
- Establish and maintain standardised material movement practices, protocols and transport planning schedules
- Proactively track shipments and provide visibility on delivery status and risks
- Work with Trade Compliance teams to ensure appropriate documentation is in place for customs reporting and import/export compliance
- Support the creation and implementation of work instructions, risk assessments and standard operating procedures to support compliant operations
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and support broader supply chain and logistics projects as required
- Implement strategies to improve operational efficiency, effectiveness and service delivery
- Ensure compliance with GDP requirements, cold chain standards and applicable quality and regulatory expectations
- Complete QMS records, including deviations and change controls related to logistics activities and external partners
- Execute ERP transactions to support timely inventory updates and financial recognition
- Support cross-functional planning activities with internal teams and external partners
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or a related discipline, alternatively another relevant degree with continuing education in logistics or supply chain
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in supply chain management, logistics or warehousing
- Strong understanding of global logistics principles, transportation management and supply chain operations
- Experience managing shipments across third-party manufacturing, packaging and distribution networks
- Cold chain logistics experience is highly desirable
- Strong working knowledge of GDP and quality standards within a regulated environment
- Experience using ERP systems, ideally SAP
- Lean Six Sigma certification is preferred (Yellow Belt desirable)
