NPP / Active Packaging are recruiting for a supply chain manager to join the NPP team. The role requires a strong commercial mindset with full end to end responsibility of the supply chain, from purchase order to delivery. The role will report to Head of Commercial.
The successful candidate will take responsibility for the end-to-end supply chain, developing, implementing, and leading the organisation’s procurement strategy. MRP, stock holding and stock aging will be included in the supply chain managers responsibilities, along with inbound logistics.
NPP are a customer centric organisation where high quality and timely supply of goods are imperative.
As the role will involve managing a purchasing team, inbound logistics and stock management people management skills are essential.
Key responsibilities
Strategic procurement & planning
o Develop a sustainable and long‑term procurement strategy aligned with NPP’s vision
o Analyse market trends and risks to make informed purchasing decisions.
o Lead continuous improvement processes to enhance procurement.
Supplier relationship management
o Foster and strengthen current supplier relationships.
o Identify potential new supplier opportunities.
o Monitor supplier performance through agreed KPIs.
o Identifying innovation within suppliers, new products, new methods etc.
o Conduct regular supplier performance reviews.
Commercial mindset
o Understanding our customer, their product requirements.
o Understanding pricing and competitiveness.
o Knowing how to meet the customer requirements and identifying a suitable supply option
o Innovating with our suppliers to meet the customer’s needs.
o Market knowledge required to help make informed stock holding decisions
Contract & negotiation management
o Lead contract negotiations, ensuring cost savings, risk reduction, and performance guarantees.
o Manage contract lifecycle, including renewals, renegotiations, and performance monitoring of supplier contracts.
Risk management & compliance
o Assess and mitigate supply chain risks, including pricing, quality and potential global affairs related issues.
o Ensure compliance with legal requirements, and industry standards.
o Maintain documentation, policies, and procurement records to meet audit requirements.
Stock Holding
o Ensuring product availability while maintaining optimal inventory level.
o Minimising supply disruption.
o Actioning stock aging issues.
Freight and logistics
o Manage inbound freight across international and domestic transport
o Coordinate with suppliers, freight forwards, carriers.
o Evaluate shipping methods.
o Monitor freight spend.
o Ensure compliance with customs regulations
o Manage customer declarations, tariff classification and import documents.
·Data and information
o Ownership of supply chain data.
o Product categories, lines, details.
o Ownership of supplier data, specifications, offering etc.
Cost & performance management
o Identify cost‑saving opportunities and deliver measurable annual procurement savings.
o Manage budgetary responsibilities
o Provide accurate cost forecasts.
o Track key metrics such as cost reductions, supplier performance, lead times, and inventory impact.
