Job Title: Customs Clerk
Location: Cannock, West Midlands (Hybrid)
Salary: £27,000 - £30,000 + bonuses
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Customs Clerk to join our industry leading client in the West Midlands. This role involves handling Multimodal Customs Clearance from Start to Finish, in particularcovering predominantly Road Freight Customs however experience on Air, Sea Freight Customs will also be beneficial. The ideal candidate will ensure all shipments comply with UK and international customs regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Process import and export customs declarations for Air, Sea, and Road freight.
- Ensure compliance with HMRC regulations and customs requirements.
- Liaise with freight forwarders, carriers, and government agencies.
- Manage customs documentation and duty/VAT calculations.
- Stay up to date with CDS, CHIEF, and industry regulations.
- Provide customer updates and resolve customs-related queries.
Key Requirements
- Previous experience as a Customs Clerk in freight forwarding or logistics.
- Strong knowledge of multimodal freight (air, sea, and road).
- Proficiency with customs systems, in particular CDS and Cargowise
- Understanding of commodity codes, duties, VAT, and trade agreements.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
