Role Description
The Equity Research Analyst will support the firm’s investment process with primary responsibility for fundamental equity research across the Douglass Winthrop universe of companies. Working closely with the Head of Research and portfolio managers, the Analyst will contribute to investment analysis, idea generation, and ongoing portfolio monitoring. While the firm’s investment approach is fundamentally bottom-up, the Analyst will monitor macroeconomic and market developments to provide context for company-level research. The role also includes acting as backup trader, supporting portfolio implementation as needed.
Key Responsibilities
• Conduct fundamental company-level research, including business analysis, financial statement review, and valuation work
• Build, maintain, and update financial models and internal research materials
• Screen for new equity investment ideas within the firm’s opportunity set
• Monitor portfolio companies for earnings, corporate actions, and other relevant developments
• Monitor macroeconomic conditions, policy developments, and market trends as context for equity analysis
• Provide research support to portfolio managers through written analysis and ad hoc projects
• Assist with trade execution and portfolio implementation as backup trader
• Maintain adherence to all compliance, regulatory, and ethical standards
Qualifications
• 2–5 years of relevant experience in equity research, asset management, or a related investment role
• Strong understanding of financial statements, valuation methodologies, and equity markets
• Undergraduate degree with strong academic credentials
• MBA, CFA designation (or progress towards CFA - Level 1 must be already completed), or other relevant graduate degree preferred
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and sound professional judgment
• Proficiency with Excel and market data platforms (e.g., Bloomberg)
• Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills

• Compensation: Salary $125k - $150k commensurate with experience plus discretionary bonus
