Customs Clerk (Import & Export) – Shift Role

£18.00 per hour
12-week contract (potential to extend for the right candidate)
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Customs Clerk to join a fast-paced logistics operation supporting time-critical freight movements across the UK & Ireland.

The Role
Working as part of a busy customs team, you will be responsible for completing import and export declarations, ensuring all shipments move compliantly and on time within strict operational deadlines.
You will play a key role in supporting both air and road freight operations, working to tight cut-off times and maintaining a high level of accuracy across all entries.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete import and export customs entries using CDS
- Ensure all documentation is processed accurately and within deadlines
- Liaise with customers, HMRC and internal teams to resolve queries
- Prepare and manage shipping documentation and manifests
- Monitor shipments to ensure timely clearance and delivery
- Maintain compliance with all customs regulations and procedures
What We’re Looking For
- Minimum 1–2 years’ experience in a customs/import/export role
- Experience using CDS (CHIEF exposure beneficial)
- Strong understanding of UK customs procedures and compliance
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment
- High attention to detail and problem-solving ability
- Confident communicator with a proactive approach
Shift Pattern
This role operates on a rotating shift basis, including:
- 15:00 – 23:00
- 17:00 – 01:00
- 21:00 – 05:00
Flexibility is essential as the operation runs across evenings and nights.
