We are looking for an experienced Customs Agent to join a growing and knowledgeable customs team, managing import and export clearances across Great Britain, Ireland and Northern Ireland.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong technical customs knowledge who is confident managing declarations from start to finish and providing customers with accurate, practical support.
You will be responsible for preparing and submitting customs entries, ensuring regulatory compliance and working closely with customs authorities, freight forwarders and logistics partners to ensure goods move efficiently and without unnecessary delays.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit accurate import and export customs declarations covering UK, Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland movements.
- Ensure compliance with UK and EU customs regulations, including post-Brexit trading requirements.
- Review commercial invoices, packing lists, transport documentation and supporting customs paperwork.
- Liaise with HMRC, Irish Revenue, ports, freight forwarders and other relevant parties to resolve clearance issues.
- Manage customer customs queries, inspections and requests for additional documentation.
- Monitor shipments throughout the clearance process, proactively resolving delays, discrepancies and documentation issues.
- Maintain accurate customs records in accordance with regulatory and audit requirements.
- Provide customers with knowledgeable and professional support on day-to-day customs clearance matters.
About You
You will ideally have:
- Previous experience working as a Customs Agent, Customs Clerk or Customs Clearance Specialist.
- Strong working knowledge of UK, EU and Northern Ireland customs procedures.
- Hands-on experience preparing import and export declarations.
- Knowledge of tariff classification and customs documentation.
- Understanding of transit, special procedures and duty reliefs would be advantageous.
- Experience using customs declaration and clearance systems.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work accurately in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.
