Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Customs Compliance Analyst who represents the core values and traits of Lacoste. The Customs Compliance Analyst is responsible to support the Customs Compliance Manager in execution of all customs related transactions and adherence to trade compliance regulations governed by Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), and other regulatory agencies in North America. Additionally, they will be accountable for formulating strategies, implementing processes, improving performance, and procuring resources for the efficient management of customs and trade compliance.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Support the Lacoste operations team in the day-to-day management of import customs compliance related issues to ensure timely entry and customs release of all inbound shipments.
- Oversee adherence to customs and documentation requirements with Customs and Border Production (CBP) and other governmental regulatory bodies.
- Manage export customs requirements and filings for shipments from the US to Canada, Mexico, and Puerto Rico.
- Continually identify and implement trade compliance process improvement opportunities and strategies.
- Draft and maintain standard operating procedures (SOP’s) for identified customs compliance related processes.
- Maintain strong communication and build relationships with customs brokers.
- Timely reconciliation, validation, and reporting of import entries, duty rates, and duty payment.
- Assist with harmonized tariff classification (HTS) and/or Schedule B numbers for all products.
- Identify cost saving initiatives for duty reduction including duty drawback, free trade agreement (FTA), First Sale and other opportunities with the global customs compliance team.
- Assist with annual CTPAT audit and security review to ensure compliance.
- Identify evolving trade compliance issues and initiatives to determine potential impact to the business.
Requirements/Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of experience in import customs brokerage in a corporate environment or customs brokerage firm.
- Comprehensive understanding of US import customs, trade compliance, and regulations
- Working knowledge of Harmonized Tariff Classification (HTS), Schedule B, US customs regulations, duty drawback, entry documentation, in-bond cross border shipments, and incoterms.
- Knowledge of CBP systems including ACE and other customs brokerage systems.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while working to meet deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to present in front of large groups and key stakeholders.
- Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills with the ability to work cross functionally and cross culturally between departments, external providers, and remote teams
- Excellent organization skills (planning, scheduling, and budgeting)
- Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Power Point, and Word)
- Excellent data analytics and visualization skills
- Customs Broker License a plus
