Job Title: Customs Clerk (Junior)
Department: Customs
Responsible to: Customs Manager/Depot manager
Schedule: Monday to Friday 15:00-23:30
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Run all activities associated with processing customs documentation to include reviewing documentation received for accuracy and completeness.
- Work closely with colleagues throughout the business and externally to advise and support them in custom related matters.
- Processing import/export consignments as required.
- Communicate with both Port & Revenue authorities.
- Assist with reports and retrieval of information.
- General administration.
- Customs tariffs/valuations.
- Creating and discharging T1 documents.
- Compliance focused approach to all Regulatory & company procedures.
- Irish Import and Export customs declarations.
- Northern Irish declarations using TSS.
- UK Import & Export declarations.
- ENS declarations.
- PBN declarations.
- TRACES submissions for Imports & Exports.
- Liaising with relevant regulatory authorities.
- Liaising with Trader, Freight Forwarders & Distributors for relevant documentation.
Requirements:
- 1-2 years Customs experience is desirable, full training will be given.
- Previous experience in freight forwarding / transport or similar industry desirable.
- Accuracy and attention to detail is crucial.
- Excellent organisation skills.
- Exceptional communication skills and command of the English language, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work under pressure and to the highest of standards.
- Compliance focused approach to tasks.
- Up to date knowledge Customs knowledge in Ireland.
- UK & NI Customs knowledge a distinct advantage but not essential.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Excellent organization skills.
- Able to work on own initiative.
- Team player.
- Problem solving skills.
- Experience in MS Office.
- Experience of TARIC, ROS, AEP, AES, AIS, NCTS, CHIEF would be preferred.
- Experience of Thyme IT an advantage but not essential.
