Role Overview
The Head of Operations & Customs Compliance will play a pivotal strategic role, responsible for the customs operational management and strategic execution across key functions including product development, regulatory compliance, and cross-functional delivery. This individual will be instrumental in scaling the business, refining customs operational processes, building key multijurisdictional regulatory integrations, and scaling Customs Window to become the market leader in customs automation technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Product Development & Regulatory Integration: Collaborate with product and engineering teams to prioritise roadmap initiatives, ensure timely releases, and integrate compliance requirements into software solutions.
- Regulatory Product Testing: Oversee testing of customs compliance and declaration software to ensure alignment with current regulations (EU Union Customs Code, UK CDS). Identify and address gaps in software functionality.
- Customs Compliance Management: Lead and oversee customs software declaration platform, ensuring accuracy and compliance with international trade regulations. Provide expertise on customs datasets and regulatory requirements.
- Operational Leadership: Oversee and optimise customs operational aspects of the product all across all our geographic locations, ensuring seamless collaboration across departments and alignment with strategic goals.
- Customer Success: Working to onboard customers and transition seamlessly from existing software providers to Customs Window.
- Strategic Planning: Partner with executive leadership to develop and implement strategic initiatives that drive business growth, operational efficiency, and regulatory alignment for customers across multiple geographies.
- Implementing New Product Solutions: Innovating and testing new customs declaration and compliance processes in cross border international trade.
Key Skills and Experience
- Proven experience in an operations or customs declarations/compliance role within a customs, logistics, or supply chain environment.
- Understanding of customs declarations, cross-border trade, and international trade regulations in EU and/or UK.
- Track record of executing customs processes and resolving customs errors.
- Experience in navigating and interpreting customs authorities operational guides.
- Exceptional organisational, planning, and strategic thinking abilities.
- Data-driven mindset, with strong analytical skills and the ability to define and track operational and compliance metrics.
- Practical experience in customs declaration systems or trade management systems, and project management systems.
- Experience working with international teams and customers is advantageous.
- Hands-on experience with customs compliance software is desirable.
Education & Qualifications
- Qualification in International Trade or Customs, Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
- Minimum 4 years of experience in operations, customs declarations or operations, trade compliance, or a related field.
