Customs & Excise Lead - London - Hybrid working (3 days a week)
A leading global organisation is seeking a strategic and technically skilled Customs & Excise Lead to oversee compliance and governance across key territories, with a primary focus on the UK and Ireland. This position blends deep technical expertise with regional leadership. You will be responsible for maintaining a robust framework for customs and excise compliance, while driving strategic alignment and risk management across multiple business functions.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
- Develop and sustain a comprehensive framework of customs and excise policies, controls, and procedures across the organisation.
- Maintain a detailed understanding of business processes that are sensitive to customs and excise regulations.
- Monitor and interpret global regulatory developments, including rulings and publications from:
- World Customs Organisation (WCO)
- World Trade Organisation (WTO)
- Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD)
- Leading consultancies and national tax authorities
Regional Oversight
- Lead customs and excise matters across the UK and Ireland, including legacy markets with ongoing tax obligations.
- Oversee compliance across all operational areas—manufacturing, warehousing, distribution, retail, R&D, and more.
- Collaborate with senior tax leadership to implement strategic plans aligned with group-wide tax and excise policies.
- Support the assessment and deployment of technology solutions, including ERP systems, to enhance compliance and reporting.
- Act as the primary point of contact for customs and excise risk management in the UK.
