Meta’s Global Trade Operations team partners with internal business units and external stakeholders to enable fast, compliant, and efficient cross-border movement of goods. We support Meta’s Infrastructure, Reality Labs, and Enterprise supply chains, and work closely with Trade Legal, Tax, and Finance to build sustainable, scalable trade compliance practices for a rapidly growing global footprint. This NORAM Trade and Customs Operational Lead will serve as the primary point of contact for trade operations in the NORAM region. This individual contributor will drive operational efficiency, ensure regulatory compliance, and influence Meta’s global trade strategy. The ideal candidate combines expertise in US Customs compliance and HTS/ECCN classification with a proven experience building relationships and drive strategic improvements.
Regional Trade & Customs Operational Lead Responsibilities:
- Serve as the main point of contact for NORAM trade operations, partnering with internal teams, legal counsel, and customs brokers
- Lead and influence cross-functional trade compliance strategy and initiatives for the region
- Facilitate day-to-day import/export activities, ensuring accurate documentation and regulatory compliance
- Monitor and resolve trade compliance inquiries from governmental agencies, conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions
- Determine HTS and ECCN classifications
- maintain and audit required documentation
- Support and lead internal/external audits, post-entry reviews, and compliance assessments
- Mentor team members and provide guidance to cross-functional partners
- Build and maintain relationships with government agencies, industry associations, and key external partners
- Present findings, risks, and recommendations to senior leadership
- Drive efficiencies and improvements in NORAM and global trade compliance programs, including Trade Preference programs, new product introductions, and country expansion strategies
- Proactively assess regulatory changes and recommend process adaptations to maintain Meta’s competitive edge
- Willingness to take ownership and do what is necessary to get the job done—at Meta, nothing is someone else’s problem
Minimum Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in global trade compliance roles, with emphasis on US jurisdiction
- Bachelor’s degree in business, law, economics, finance, or related discipline
- Demonstrated expertise in HTS and ECCN classification, and supporting trade compliance requirements for cross-border movements of goods
- In-depth knowledge of US Customs Regulations and Export Control regulations (EAR)
- Proven track record of leading cross-functional trade compliance projects in a fast-paced, global environment
- Experience presenting to leadership and external regulatory bodies
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Customs broker license
- Willingness to travel as required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Post-graduate degree in business, law, economics, finance or related discipline
- Experience using Canadian Automated Regulatory Management (CARM) System for Canada entries compliance oversight
- Experience managing export classification programs
