Job Purpose
Senior Specialist Trading Operations is the core executor of the ’life of the deal’, managing movements of products from supply to delivery point in an operationally excellent and optimal manner, preventing profit leakage and looking for value added or optimization opportunities. Jobholder is responsible for resorting to all required means to achieve the result anticipated by Trading, in compliance with T&C and company’s procedures and rules.

Direct Logistics related to physical execution of contracts
Duties & Responsibilities
- Communicate and collaborate with traders, schedulers, analysts and other stakeholders to develop logistical solutions
- Read and fully understand contractual obligations related to each contract and clarify any unclear points prior to execution
- Evaluate/estimate all the costs derived from a transaction and communicate all operational data having a financial impact on trading results (prices, hedges, freight, currency etc.)
- Perform analysis of the transportation means, ensuring that the product can be moved efficiently
- Assess the risks pertaining to the execution and mitigate them in coordination with involved parties
- Deal with cargo and freight counterparties and terminals on a regular basis regarding all pre- and post-deal activities
- Timely and accurate ship/cargo and date range nominations to ensure supply integrity and successful implementation of commercial business/supply intent
- Follow up the vessels chartered by the Company and optimize, in connection with Trading / Shipping, the rotations and loading plans
- Ensure the vetting procedures for vessels are followed
- Nominate the service providers essential to the realization of the contracts (independent inspectors/agents) and control the accuracy and consistency of the obtained results
- Ensure availability of quality certificates and test samples
- Obtain financial guarantees from counterparts, controlling and/or amending them before cargo loading/unloading, in connection with the Credit department
- Understand and proactively manage demurrage risks
- Follow up the whole process of the cargo operation and transit
- Ensure that all necessary operational information is passed on time and documentary requirements are met
- Identify the cause for the encountered operational problems and activate the procedures necessary to their solution in coordination with all involved participants (immediate superior/trading/legal/insurers/etc.), at minimal costs and consequences to the company
- Liaise with Loss Control to handle quantitative and qualitative issues
- Invoice and monitor accounts (proformas, credit notes, debit notes) i.e. follow up on cargo invoices, including inspection invoices and other related invoices to the operations and timely initiate payment for approval
- Ensure that all operational data is updated into trading systems in timely and accurate manner, facilitating up-to-date and accurate information flow
- Keep adequate records to meet the company’s legal and fiscal obligations, as well as making any required regulatory filings (Customs, etc.)
- Analyze and highlight logistics constraints and opportunities
- Carry out any other reasonable and lawful request directed by the Management
- Maintain and ensure confidentiality at all times
- Represent the company in a positive and professional manner
- Adhere to the company’s rules, regulations, procedures and policies at all times
Job Specifications (knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Behaviours)
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, Engineering or related field
Experience
- 4+ years in trading of commodities business
- 2+ years in trading operations within the same product portfolio, preferably with experience in the same role
Knowledge
- Advanced in Supply Chain (Products, Logistics, Processing)
- Practical in Legal & Contracts (Law, Incoterms, Tax, Regulation)
- Practical in Finance (Credit, Cost Control, Treasury)
