The Role:
The Supply Chain Manager will lead and manage the Purchasing team, driving procurement excellence, supplier performance and cost-effective sourcing aligned with company objectives. They will be responsible for overseeing the efficiency and effectiveness of supply chain operations, with a strong emphasis on purchasing, stock control, and ERP systems. This role ensures optimal stock availability, manages inbound cost control, and drives operational performance through structured procurement and process oversight. The successful candidate will enhance system reliability, reduce operational risk, and promote transparency and cross-functional collaboration.
The Person:
You will be a strategic thinker with strong analytical skills and a proactive approach to continuous improvement across supply chain functions. You should be highly organized, capable of managing multiple priorities, and comfortable working with data-driven systems such as ERP platforms. A proactive mindset and the ability to anticipate challenges in procurement, stock control, and logistics are essential. Strong communication and collaboration skills are key, as the role involves cross-functional coordination and influencing stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Uphold the company values at all times.
- Purchasing Oversight - Manage purchasing activities to ensure timely, cost-effective, and compliant procurement of goods and services. High levels of stock availability, calculation of stock levels and reduction of obsolescence.
- Range Management - Work with business units to agree stocked ranges.
- Supplier Management - Build strong relationships with suppliers to ensure reliability, quality, and performance. Management and reporting rebate agreements.
- Business Systems Management - Maintain and improve systems used for procurement, inventory, and supply chain visibility.
- Process Improvement - Identify inefficiencies and implement system and workflow improvements to streamline supply chain operations.
- Budget & Cost Control - Monitor purchasing budgets, cost trends, and ensure value for money in all procurement activities.
- Price File Maintenance – Ensure product price file is up to date and collaborate with product managers to ensure accuracy and supplier price agreements are maintained.
- Cross-Functional Coordination - Collaborate with sales, finance, and warehouse operations teams to ensure aligned planning and execution.
- Contract Administration - Support the negotiation and of supplier contracts and service level agreements (SLAs).
- Compliance & Risk Management - Ensure adherence to procurement policies and mitigate risks through effective controls and planning. Duty and customs control and management of clearance agents and import processes.
- Reporting & Analysis - Produce reports on product availability, purchasing activity, supplier performance, ESG and spend analysis for management review.
- Technology Implementation - Support rollouts and upgrades of ERP and business systems impacting supply chain operations.
- Performance Management – Set clear objectives for the team, conduct regular reviews in line with PM process, provide constructive feedback and support team development to drive continuous improvement and alignment with business goals.
