Job Purpose:
This role oversees the end-to-end management of logistics projects, ensuring operational efficiency, stakeholder alignment, and smooth execution of project deliverables. It includes guiding team members, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, and supporting commercial aspects to enhance profitability.
Key Responsibilities :
- Coordinate the transportation and delivery of the required goods including oversized, heavy, or high-value goods required for specific constructions, production, or infrastructure development.
- Identify the most suitable transportation routes and modes such as trucks, ships, barges…etc considering regulatory requirements and ensuring timely delivery.
- Patriciate in project bidding and negotiations with suppliers and vendors for transportation, warehousing, and other logistics services to win contracts while defining cost effective solutions.
- Ensure proper loading, securing, and unloading of the cargo, utilizing specialized equipment like cranes, roll-on/roll-off vessels, or heavy-lift helicopters.
- Ensure that cargo handling, transportation, and storage meet quality standards and regulatory requirements and implement quality control measures and inspections as necessary.
- Involve obtaining the necessary permits, licenses, and clearances for transporting oversized loads or hazardous materials while ensuring compliance with local, national, and international regulations to avoid legal issues and delays.
- Implement risk mitigation plans associated with transportation such as insurance coverage, tracking systems, and contingency plans.
- Support stakeholders to develop project plans, including timelines, resource allocation, and budgeting; provide updates on project progress; and address issues that arise during the projects promptly and effectively.
- Maintain accurate project documentation including contracts, invoices, reports, and compliance documentation and assist in engineering documents such as drawings, MS, risk assessment etc.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with clients, ensuring their needs and expectations are met or exceeded.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineer or a related field. Master's degree is a plus
- A minimum of 8-10 years of experience in a similar role, Proven experience in project cargo operations
