Job Description
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Documentation Management: Preparing and process shipping documents, including bills of lading, seaways bills, EUR1, commercial invoices and certificates of origin. Ensure all consignments are inputted onto system prior to arrival / departure, checking paperwork for accuracy.
- Logistics Planning: Plan, direct and control Freight Forwarding activities on a day to day basis. Handle exceptions including delays, demurrage and detention.
- Customs Compliance: Liaise with Customs Department to ensure timely clearance through Customs to avoid delays.
- Carrier Negotiation: Booking cargo space and negotiating rates with shipping lines, airlines, and trucking companies.
- Tracking and Support: Providing real-time updates to customers regarding shipment progress and troubleshooting delays.
- Customer / Supplier Relationship: Build and maintain strong relationship with Customers and Suppliers. Develop / explore opportunities within existing customers base for further potential business.
- Claims: Assist with insurance claims in line with company procedures as and when requested by management.
- Administration: Maintain accurate records and update logistics system including all costings and invoiced prior to export, delivery or release. Complete month end routines as directed by manager.
Minimum Requirements:
- Excellent knowledge of freight activities – especially sea freight and import/export procedures
- Minimum of 2-4 years’ experience in a similar role
- Able to work and meet deadlines
- Computer literate
- Able to implement and manage systems which further enhance our profile
- Possess team player qualities and good leadership skills
- Able to plan ahead, work under pressure and manage multiple shipments simultaneously
- A pro-active attitude and Able to promote the corporate culture.
