Position Summary:
We are looking for a Freight Manager to oversee and optimize freight operations, ensuring cost-effective and timely transportation of goods. This role manages international freight, freight coordination, customs compliance, and broker relationships. The ideal candidate will have strong logistics experience, expertise in freight operations, and the ability to work with multiple stakeholders to streamline supply chain processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Freight & Transportation Management:
- Develop & implement a comprehensive ocean freight procurement strategy aligned with company goals.
- Oversee freight management system - Identify, evaluate, and select freight forwarders based on performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
- Negotiate and Monitor performance, remain aware of market trends and regulatory changes, and be able to identify best practices and emerging technologies.
- Oversee Direct Imports SOP, ensuring the team is booking, and documentation is completed timely.
- Track & report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to ocean freight procurement – freight per unit, spend vs budget, tariff optimization in collaboration with Sourcing.
- Implement contingency plans to mitigate risks associated with Ocean Freight, such as cargo damage, delays, and disruptions.
- Collaborate with internal teams to align freight strategies with business objectives.
- Track & present monthly Freight Cost Tracker with detailed analysis of cost drivers.
Customs Compliance:
- Oversee HTS (Harmonized Tariff Schedule) / NetSuite Master Spec Set-Up, ensuring compliance with international trade regulations.
- Conduct daily/weekly review of U.S shipment entries
- Work with Brand and S&P to determine classifications and duty/tariff impact for innovation products
- Develop and Support trade compliance automation efforts
- Ensure accurate classification of goods and adherence to customs laws to minimize delays and penalties.
- Work closely with regulatory authorities to maintain up-to-date trade compliance standards.
- Handle Broker Management, ensuring smooth communication and coordination with customs brokers for timely clearance of shipments.
- Establish relationships with freight forwarders, brokers, and third-party logistics providers.
- Negotiate freight contracts and service agreements to optimize cost savings and service levels.
- Resolve transportation and customs-related issues efficiently to prevent disruptions in the supply chain.
- Track & present monthly duty/tariff cost (Duty/Tariff Tracker)
NetSuite Management
- Own the end to end Inbound and Freight invoice approvals in NetSuite. Create timely inbounds with accurate ETD and ETA
- Own and ensure correctness of all Logistics related product attributes in the product master data
Qualifications & Skills:
- Experience: Minimum three (3) years of progressive experience in transportation management, freight management, logistics, or supply chain operations with a proven track record of success in optimizing complex logistics networks. Deep understanding of various transportation modes (ocean, rail, truckload, LTL, air, dtc)
- Asia-US Lane: Minimum three (3) years experience handling Asia – US freight lane is mandatory
- Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with HTS classification, customs brokerage, TMS and domestic transportation processes. ERP experience needed, Netsuite is a plus.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze data, identify trends and develop actionable insights.
- Negotiation Skills: Strong ability to negotiate contracts and rates with carriers and brokers.
- Problem-Solving: Quick decision-making skills to handle transportation delays and compliance challenges.
- Communication & Collaboration: Ability to coordinate effectively with internal teams, external vendors, and regulatory bodies.

The Legal bits
The salary range for this role is $85,000.00- $100,000.00 annually, plus eligible for an annual target bonus prorated from the start date. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith, believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee’s pay position within the wage range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs. This compensation range may also be modified in the future.
