Job Description
The successful applicant will be responsible for managing the intermodal transport process for Ireland and will be based in our Dublin office, while maintaining a strong relationship with both our suppliers and customers and working closely with senior management and all other departments within the business.
We believe the successful Intermodal Transport Manager should have the following skills and qualifications:
- CPC (Certificate of professional competence) road haulage.
- ADR qualification.
- Excellent background knowledge within the road transport industry and current regulations.
- Good geographical awareness within Ireland road transport networks.
- Ability to deliver a highly efficient & streamlined transport solutions.
- Manager who is skilled in setting clear objectives and motivating their team.
- Leadership and motivational qualities and proven experience of building a team.
- Commercially focused, consumer oriented and customer service driven.
- Excellent problem-solving skills in a pressured environment.
- Health & Safety policy.
- Experience working within the ROI / NI markets.
- Framework gained with third party road transport companies.
- Transport planning experience.
- Excellent communication skills, written & verbal.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word / Excel.
Desirable
- Experience within the container shipping Lo/Lo ports Dublin, Belfast & Cork.
- Experience in the shipping container industry.
- Experience in dangerous goods handling procedures.
- Familiar with reefer cargo movements such as frozen, chilled, high value pharma and hazardous types.
- Handling out of gauge (OOG) shipments.
The key tasks for the Intermodal Transport Manager are as follows:
- Develop and grow our existing customer portfolio related to our intermodal and customs clearance activities.
- Target new business accounts on import and export intermodal and customs clearance activities through continued business development.
- Overseeing the daily running of the transport department to ensure efficient delivery of goods to customers within agreed service levels.
- Working closely with the inbound and outbound teams in conjunction to the vessel schedules optimising delivery networks.
- Support and implement service improvements strategies in line with customer needs and other areas of the business.
- Motivate and develop the teams through engagement, training, and personal development programmes.
- Collaborating with third party trucking companies and customs clearance agents ensuring best practice and continuous improvement.
- Negotiate contracted rates in agreement with the senior management team and liaise with the contracts team in head office to standardise our local haulage contracts
- Implement process improvement & costs saving strategies within container logistics.
- Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with clients, suppliers and various third parties.
- Responsible for handling client accounts, controlling of collections and deliveries.
- Analysing company processes and procedures ensuring best practice.
- Developing process enhancement strategies and transport solutions.
- Supporting the company regarding its carbon footprint.
