YOUR ROLE
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Customs Operations Manager to join our operation in Cork, Republic of Ireland. This is a senior leadership role where you will take full ownership of the customs function, driving operational excellence, compliance, customer satisfaction, and commercial performance.
You will play a pivotal role in leading the department, strengthening customer relationships, managing P&L performance, and supporting the development and growth of our business across the Republic of Ireland.
WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?
As Customs Operations Manager, you will:
- Lead and develop the Customs Department, setting clear strategy, objectives and performance standards aligned to business goals.
- Take full responsibility for departmental P&L performance, managing costs, productivity, margins, and identifying revenue growth opportunities.
- Drive continuous improvement across customs processes, procedures, compliance, and operational efficiency.
- Ensure the accurate and timely submission of customs declarations, maintaining full compliance with Irish Revenue and EU customs legislation.
- Monitor team performance against agreed KPIs and SLAs, implementing corrective actions and development plans where required.
- Strengthen and improve customer relationships, acting as a key escalation point and trusted advisor on customs matters.
- Work collaboratively with commercial teams to identify, develop and grow business opportunities within the Republic of Ireland, supporting customer retention and new business acquisition.
- Manage third-party carriers, brokers, and suppliers, ensuring performance standards are met and service excellence delivered.
- Safeguard the business and customers by ensuring adherence to ISO standards, compliance frameworks, and regulatory requirements.
- Promote a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous professional development within the team.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
- Proven experience managing a customs operations team, ideally within freight forwarding, logistics, or supply chain.
- Strong working knowledge of Irish Revenue and EU customs legislation, compliance requirements, and declaration systems.
- Demonstrable experience with P&L management, budgeting, and cost control. Experience developing customer relationships and contributing to commercial growth within the Republic of Ireland market.
- A strong leader with the ability to motivate, coach and develop high-performing teams .Experience managing carriers, brokers, and third-party suppliers.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build strong internal and external relationships.
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with a passion for improving processes, driving efficiencies, and delivering results.
