Location: This is a fully remote position so the successful candidate can be based from anywhere in the UK.
Please note – whilst this a home-based role there will be a requirement to travel to the office twice a year, and interviews will take place in person so you must be willing to travel for this occasion.
This role is within the Siemens plc GB&I Customs department and is primarily to support the team in the processing of import declarations through our own internal software.
Excellent attention to detail and strong data entry skills are a crucial requirement of the role which also requires good organisational skills and the ability to communicate clearly with internal and external partners. The successful candidate must be self-disciplined and work well within a team albeit mostly remotely from their colleagues.
What are my responsibilities?
- Accurate processing and submission of import declarations in a timely manner.
- Dealing with import paperwork from various modes of transport and clearing shipments using customs processes such as home use, Inward Processing, returned goods and preference
- Ensures compliant import processing and/or customs classification in their area of responsibility.
- Monitors compliance with import processes and ensures that processes follow customs regulations.
- Is responsible for reporting of non-compliant cases.
- Checks data and documents and coordinates with internal and external partners to ensure customs compliance.
- Contributes to the improvement of the efficiency of procedures.
- Dealing with all queries quickly and efficiently
What do I need to qualify for this role?
- Experience in import clearances and completing customs declarations is desirable
- Knowledge of Customs & Export Control Classification would be an advantage in securing this role but not essential as training can be provided if required.
- Good IT skills, particularly in the use of Excel, Outlook and sharepoints.
- Good understanding of Incoterms
