A leading Construction business operating in Ireland, UK and Mainland Europe is seeking a Construction Buyer to join their Procurement Team in Dublin 11.
This permanent role will support a multitude of live projects by procuring materials and plant, ensuring cost efficiency, timely delivery, and strong supplier performance across multiple sites and countries!
Responsibilities
- Procure construction materials in line with project programmes
- Management of the local site plant hires to ensure accurately recorded and reduce over hire costs.
- Ensure compliance with projected buying patterns of the project and flag issues.
- Place purchase orders and manage supplier lead times
- Liaise closely with site teams to ensure delivery meets programme and specification requirements
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers
- Monitor market pricing, availability, and supply chain trends
- Maintain accurate procurement records and cost data
- Support the development of a strong product list and price book.
- Report on purchasing trends monthly to commercial team.
- Coordinate customs clearance for import/export of goods between the UK and EU, ensuring accurate documentation and compliance with regulations
- Liaise with freight forwarders, customs agents, and suppliers to ensure timely clearance and delivery of materials
- The business encourages continuous improvement so suggestions for change are encouraged to improve business efficiency.
Requirements
- 2-3 years’ experience as a Buyer within construction environment in Europe/UK
- Strong knowledge of construction materials and local supply chains
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and organisational skills
- Previous exposure to Netsuite/ Orcale and advantage but not a pre-requisite.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
