A valued client in North Dublin is seeking a seasoned Customs Compliance Manager to join their growing team in Swords. This will be a test to relish for those customs professionals supervising teams looking to take the next step in their careers.
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee and support the Customs team in their daily activities through Team Leads and Supervisors.
- Ensure customs-compliant processes are in place and followed
- Keep up to date with HMRC and customs legislation changes
- Work closely with HR on recruitment, vacancies, and development needs, escalating any concerns where appropriate.
- Ensure probation reviews, performance appraisals, and KPI setting are consistently done
- Build positive relationships with customs authorities across all regions.
- Spot risks and delays early, fix them fast, and keep everyone informed.
- Support continuous improvement, training, and smarter ways of working.
- Develop and analyse KPIs to identify trends and areas to improve.
- Work closely with teams in Ireland and the UK to improve operational processes.
- Help develop procedures for our growing brokerage team.
- Support system testing, rollouts, and training.
- Maintain AEO status and overall compliance standards..
- Manage team holidays, absences, and rota planning to ensure adequate coverage.
- Identify training needs, organise sessions, and ensure all training is approved and accurately recorded on the BMS.
- Monitor and manage team performance using daily and weekly performance data, producing clear, actionable reports and identifying trends or areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with the BIE team to improve and streamline existing processes and data flows to the team.
- Oversee the onboarding process for new team members
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE..:
- 3+ years supervising / managing teams
- Excellent Customs brokerage, clearance and systems knowledge is essential
- Possesses a positive outlook, promoting constructive responses to the challenges of work within their team
- Strong knowledge of customs systems, requirements, and query resolution.
- In depth knowledge of customs clearance requirements and procedures
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
- Excellent understanding of supply chains and of the freight forwarding arena
