The Clearance Team Executive is responsible for executing customs clearance operations for inbound and outbound shipments across air, sea, and land borders in the UAE. The role ensures full compliance with Federal Customs Authority (FCA) regulations and respective emirate customs requirements, including Dubai Customs, Abu Dhabi Customs, and Ghuweifat Border Customs.
The position focuses on timely clearance, accurate documentation, and regulatory compliance to support seamless cargo and courier movement within and outside the UAE.
- Execute customs clearance for imports, exports, re-exports, and bonded shipments via air (DXB/AUH), sea (Jebel Ali/KIZAD), and land (Ghuweifat Border).
- Prepare, verify, and submit customs documentation: invoices, packing lists, Certificates of Origin, HS codes, permits, and approvals.
- File customs declarations through Mirsal II, Abu Dhabi Customs Portal, and GCC Unified Customs System.
- Coordinate with customs inspection teams to ensure timely inspections and cargo release.
- Follow up with customs officers on approvals, clarifications, and exceptions to avoid delays.
- Ensure compliance with UAE Customs Law, GCC regulations, and relevant authorities (MOIAT, MOCCAE, ESMA, Health Authorities).
- Handle controlled and restricted commodities in line with permits and regulatory approvals.
- Stay updated on import/export restrictions, prohibited items, and regulatory circulars.
- Support first-time product imports, coordinating with inspection agencies for pre-approval documentation.
- Liaise with freight forwarders, bonded warehouse operators (KEZAD, DAFZA, JAFZA), logistics service providers, and customs officers.
- Communicate clearance status to operations, warehouse, and customer service teams to ensure timely delivery.
- Coordinate with government entities (Municipality, Health Authorities, Food Control) for permits and inspections.
- Address and resolve stakeholder inquiries related to customs requirements or delays.
- Maintain accurate records of customs declarations, duty/tax payments, and inspection/release reports.
- Prepare periodic reports on clearance timelines, exceptions, delays, and duty/cost implications.
- Escalate compliance risks, process gaps, or regulatory updates to the Clearance Supervisor.
What you'll need:
- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on customs clearance experience within the UAE.
- Exposure to DXB, AUH, and Ghuweifat Border operations preferred.
- Strong understanding of bonded warehouse operations and re-export processes.
- Proficiency in: Mirsal II, Abu Dhabi Customs Portal, GCC Unified Customs Clearance System.
- Comprehensive knowledge of UAE and GCC customs procedures, tariff codes, and duty structures.
- Strong understanding of import/export documentation and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent coordination and communication skills in English (Arabic is an advantage).
- Proactive approach in dealing with customs authorities and government bodies.
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to work under pressure.
- Sound understanding of bonded and free zone operations (KEZAD, DAFZA, JAFZA, etc.).
- Valid UAE driving license (preferred).
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays based on operational requirements.
- High ethical standards, integrity, and compliance-oriented mindset when handling customs documentation and authority interactions.
