Role Overview
The Head of Logistics is responsible for leading and optimizing the entire logistics function, ensuring the efficient and cost-effective movement of goods from suppliers to customers. This role oversees end-to-end logistics strategy, including warehousing, transportation, distribution, and last-mile delivery, while ensuring compliance with safety, regulatory, and quality standards. The Head of Logistics will play a critical role in driving operational excellence, cost optimization, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership
- Develop and implement the company’s logistics strategy aligned with overall business objectives.
- Drive continuous improvement in logistics processes to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service levels.
- Logistics & Distribution Management
- Oversee inbound and outbound transportation, warehousing, and distribution networks.
- Ensure timely and accurate delivery to customers, maintaining high service levels.
- Optimize last-mile delivery and 3PL partnerships.
- Financial & Performance Management
- Prepare and manage logistics budgets, forecasts, and cost controls.
- Track key KPIs (OTIF, cost per shipment, warehouse productivity, etc.) and ensure targets are achieved.
- Technology & Process Improvement
- Implement logistics technologies (WMS, TMS, ERP systems) to streamline operations.
- Leverage data analytics to enhance demand planning, routing, and inventory management.
- Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing logistics team.
- Build a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with international trade regulations, customs, and local labor laws.
- Oversee health, safety, and environmental standards across all logistics operations.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- 10+ years of progressive experience in logistics, supply chain, or distribution, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Strong understanding of warehousing, transportation, import/export, and last-mile delivery.
- Experience working with logistics software (WMS, TMS, ERP).
- Excellent leadership, stakeholder management, and negotiation skills.
- Financial acumen with experience in budgeting and cost optimization.
