Job Purpose
The Import Shipping Coordinator will oversee and manage the end-to-end process of import shipments for SLA Logistics in Dubai. The role involves handling all documentation, ensuring compliance with UAE customs regulations, and coordinating with global suppliers, shipping lines, and local authorities to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of goods.
Key Responsibilities
Manage import shipments from origin to final delivery within the UAE.
Prepare and review shipping and customs documents including invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, certificates of origin, etc.
Liaise with shipping lines, freight forwarders, and customs brokers to ensure smooth clearance and timely deliveries.
Monitor shipment status, maintain updated records, and provide regular reports to management and clients.
Ensure compliance with UAE customs laws, port authority requirements, and international trade regulations.
Coordinate with finance for payment of duties, Port Handling Charges, VAT, freight charges, and other related expenses.
Resolve issues related to shipment delays, demurrage, detention, or discrepancies.
Build strong relationships with suppliers, clients, and government authorities to ensure smooth logistics operations.
Maintain proper documentation and records for audit and regulatory purposes.
Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or a related field.
3–5 years of experience in import shipping/logistics coordination within the UAE.
Strong knowledge of UAE customs procedures, Free Zone/Port regulations (JAFZA, DP World, etc.), and international trade practices.
Proficiency in MS Office and logistics ERP systems.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks, and meet tight deadlines.
Fluency in English (Arabic/Hindi is an advantage).
Other Requirements
Familiarity with Dubai Trade, Mirsal II, and other UAE customs clearance platforms.
Flexibility to handle urgent shipments outside regular working hours.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
