Role Description
The Operations Control Supervisor – Loading Department is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all vehicle loading activities to ensure safe, efficient, and timely shipment of automobiles. This role ensures compliance with safety regulations, company procedures, and customer requirements while optimizing labor, equipment, and space utilization.
Operational Oversight
- Supervise daily loading operations for vehicle shipments (car carriers, railcars, vessels, or containers)
- Ensure vehicles are loaded according to load plans, stowage requirements, and damage-prevention standards
- Monitor loading schedules to meet dispatch and delivery deadlines
- Coordinate with dispatch, yard operations, and transportation teams
Safety & Compliance
- Enforce all safety rules, loading procedures, and regulatory requirements
- Conduct safety briefings and ensure proper use of PPE
- Identify hazards and implement corrective actions
Team Leadership
- Supervise loading crews, operators, and support staff
- Assign work, monitor performance, and provide coaching and training
- Verify attendance, timekeeping, and labor productivity
- Address performance issues and escalate when necessary
Documentation & Reporting
- Complete loading reports, checklists, and shipping documentation
- Track productivity, damage reports, and safety incidents
- Communicate daily operational updates to management
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Associate degree or logistics/operations certification preferred
- 3–5 years of experience in vehicle logistics, auto shipping, port operations, or transportation
- Prior supervisory experience required
