What you'll do:
The Supervisor – (Clearance Team), Cross-Border is responsible for overseeing day-to-day bonded warehouse operations and managing end-to-end customs clearance activities for import and export shipments across mainland and free zones. The role ensures efficient inventory management, full compliance with UAE customs and free zone regulations, and smooth coordination of inbound and outbound shipments while maintaining operational excellence.
- Oversee day-to-day bonded warehouse operations, including receipt, storage, and dispatch of goods.
- Ensure accurate inventory management through proper labeling, tracking, and segregation of bonded and non-bonded stock.
- Maintain full compliance with UAE customs laws and free zone regulations related to bonded warehouse operations.
- Optimize warehouse workflows to improve efficiency, minimize errors, and drive operational excellence.
- Control and manage the complete flow of inbound and outbound shipments across all clearance entry and exit points in the UAE.
- Lead and manage teams reporting directly and indirectly, ensuring adherence to operational benchmarks and legal compliance standards.
- Own end-to-end import and export customs clearance processes for mainland and free zone shipments.
- Prepare, review, and verify all customs documentation, including bills of entry, exit/entry certificates, transit declarations, and invoices.
- Liaise with customs authorities, free zone officials, freight forwarders, and shipping lines to resolve clearance-related issues.
- Ensure compliance with customs duties, taxes, and trade compliance standards.
- Monitor clearance activities to prevent delays and ensure on-time delivery to clients.
- Stay up to date with changes in customs regulations, free zone compliance rules, and bonded warehouse policies.
- Conduct regular audits of bonded warehouse records and customs documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Facilitate customs inspections and promptly address discrepancies to avoid penalties.
- Coordinate with clients to provide shipment status updates and resolve inquiries or concerns.
- Communicate effectively with freight forwarders, transport companies, and regulatory bodies to ensure smooth operations.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customs authorities and free zone officials to support faster clearances.
- Supervise, train, and develop warehouse staff and clearance coordinators to ensure high performance and accountability.
- Allocate tasks efficiently and monitor adherence to operational, safety, and compliance standards.
- Promote a culture of teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure bonded warehouse operations comply with health, safety, and security standards.
- Implement controls to prevent theft, damage, or unauthorized access to warehouses and shipments.
- Monitor KPIs including clearance turnaround times, inventory accuracy, and warehouse efficiency.
- Prepare detailed reports on bonded warehouse operations, customs clearance activities, and compliance for management.
- Identify process improvement opportunities and recommend operational enhancements.
What you’ll need?
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum 5–7 years of experience in bonded warehouse and customs clearance operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Proven experience managing import and export clearances for both mainland and free zone operations.
- Preferred experience working with Abu Dhabi Customs and Dubai Customs clearance teams.
- Certification in Logistics and Supply Chain Management (e.g., CILT, APICS) is preferred.
- UAE Customs Clearance certification is highly desirable.
- Fluency in English is required; Arabic is an advantage.
