Chief Operating Officer - Dubai
A leading Dubai‑based logistics company specializing in port operations, container terminals, and integrated supply chain solutions. The company delivers mission‑critical services across cargo handling, vessel operations, inland logistics, and value‑added services for regional and global clients.
Role Overview
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will serve as the senior operational leader responsible for driving efficiency, productivity, and operational excellence across all port and terminal operations. This role requires a strategic operator with deep domain expertise in maritime logistics and the ability to scale performance in a high‑growth, asset‑heavy environment.
The COO will lead multi‑site operational teams, optimize end‑to‑end terminal performance, and ensure compliance with international safety, security, and environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
- Oversee daily operations across ports, terminals, yard management, warehousing, and logistics activities.
- Develop and implement operational strategies to maximize throughput, efficiency, and asset utilization.
- Ensure vessel turnaround, crane productivity, and yard operations meet or exceed KPIs.
Strategic Planning & Growth
- Support the CEO in executing long‑term business strategy, including expansion of terminal capacity and new logistics services.
- Lead operational due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, and international partnerships.
Performance Management
- Establish performance dashboards, operational KPIs, and continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma, TOS optimization, etc.).
- Drive digital transformation initiatives such as smart port technologies, automation, and advanced terminal operating systems (TOS).
Safety, Compliance & Standards
- Ensure full compliance with international maritime, customs, and HSSE regulations.
- Champion a strong safety culture and implement risk‑mitigation frameworks for port and terminal environments.
Financial Stewardship
- Manage operational budgets, cost control, and capital expenditure planning.
- Optimize resource allocation, equipment procurement, and vendor management.
Leadership & Culture
- Build and mentor high‑performing teams across operations, engineering, HSSE, and maintenance.
- Promote an inclusive, performance‑driven culture aligned with company values.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- 15+ years of experience in port operations, container terminals, or maritime logistics.
- Proven track record in senior leadership (COO, VP Operations, Terminal Director).
- Deep understanding of terminal operating systems (TOS), yard planning, vessel productivity, and EDI standards.
- Experience in automation, digital transformation, and large‑scale operational improvement projects.
- Strong financial acumen, including budget management and capital expenditure planning.
- Knowledge of global HSSE standards and international regulatory frameworks.
